Many times you must have heard that idols are worshiped in newly built temples ,  but very few people know why Pran Pratishtha is done and how it is done . So let us tell you today why the idol is worshiped in any temple and what is its law and order.

Why are the idols of God worshipped? – Pran pratishtha vidhi – murti sthapana mantra

  • After the construction of any temple, first of all the idols of the deities installed in them are worshiped. It is done according to the whole rules. It takes 3 to 5 days to perform Prana Pratishtha.
  • It is believed that the ritual of Prana-Pratishtha is performed to awaken the idols. It is said that life does not come in stone idols from Pran-Pratishtha, but it can be experienced to be awakened , perfected. This process is done by many scholars , pundits.
  • At the place where the idol is installed , a paat is made for the idol by keeping  gold , silver , currency , food etc. in the ground.
  • Vedic mantras are recited and sounds are recited at the place where the soul is consecrated. During this, the idols of God are anointed in many ways. It is said that when idols are consecrated with the power of mantras, the deities reside in them, which is very fruitful for the devotees .
  • It is also Vastu based. The place where the idol is installed , the negative effects are eliminated from that place with the help of mantras and positive effects are awakened. The place becomes pure with positive energy. The peace that is experienced in the temple is said to happen only through Vedic mantras.
  • It is not that Pran-Pratishtha is performed only in temples , but people also perform Pran-Pratishtha in the temples of their home. Before installing any idol in the house of worship, the idol is worshipped. It is believed that in the house where life is established, God resides in that house.

Pran Pratishtha Puja Method and Mantra – Pran Pratishtha Kaise Kare – Pran Pratishtha Vidhi 

  • Always do Pran Pratishtha on Tuesday of Shukla Paksha or in stable ascendant and auspicious constellation.
  • Keep in mind that Pran Pratishtha is prohibited in Rahu Kaal.
  • First of all bathe the idol of God with Panchamrit. If Panchamrit is not available, then you can take bath with clean water , Ganga water or milk , curd.
  • Dress them after taking bath.
  • Now offer flowers , fruits , incense , naivedya , sandalwood , lamp , sweets , Akshat etc. to the idol.
  •  Perform aarti.
  • Take clean water in your right hand and chant these mantras-

‘ The sages of this Sri Prana Pratishtha Mantra are Brahma Vishnu , Maheshwara and the chandas are Rig Yaju

The active body: the deity called Prana. Aam Bijam Hrim Shaktih Kraun Keelakaam Asmin ( Name of the Lord whose idol is to be installed) Vinioga for establishing life in the yantra.

  • After pronunciation, drop the water on the ground.
